Why zReports exists

It started with a surgery that should have been one.

A few years ago, a recreational accident put our founder in a surgery center chosen in a hurry, the way most facilities are chosen: a good website, glowing reviews, and no time. It had a record nobody had thought to check, because there was nowhere to check it.

What should have been one operation became multiple corrective surgeries after coming home. Two life-altering failures in one trip. Two facilities. Zero places where anyone could have typed a name and seen the record first.

Here's what made it unbearable: the records existed the whole time.

Federal and state agencies inspect these places, measure their outcomes, and publish what they find. But the records sit scattered across government databases built in another decade, unreadable at 11pm with a booking confirmation in your inbox and a knot in your stomach.

Every score comes from a published, mechanical model over public records. The only way up is fixing what the record shows. Providers pay nothing and cannot pay anything.

Research runs from our end, outward, through official records. Nothing is self-reported or negotiated. A facility learns its score the way you do: by looking it up.

If any zReport misstates the public record, a wrong facility match, an outdated license status, a transcription error, email support@zreports.org with the report number and the source you believe is correct. We verify against the original government record and correct confirmed errors within 48 hours. We correct facts; we do not negotiate scores.
